'Unpolished' you said?! Nary a clearer piece have I read. Truly the weight of centering the self to the exclusion of whatever it is we mean by 'God' must be the 'chains' stiffening our necks from liberatory perception of and receptivity to the hidden order of Reality. The soul is ever free. The self never.

I have experienced this thru psychedelics, psilocybin mushrooms and lsd. Especially with the latter, it did seem to me at the time more of an "unveiling" than hallucination. My mind perceived what normally my brain would filter out. I have reached a similar revelation when in deep prayer (to deal with pain). Reality is divinely-inspired to my eye. Life is full of love! I can't emphasize the love portion enough. My psychedelic experiences brought a profound sense of wonder and unconditional love. It is awkward to write about. Thank you for the reminder!

Thank you for this interesting and nuanced reflection Zahra! Perhaps you are right, maybe Huxley briefly achieved a state of "oneness" with the source of all consciousness, or reached a temporary, higher state of awareness through his experience with mescaline
